Railway Production Engineer

About the role

The Railway Production Engineer supports the localization program by validating locally manufactured spare parts and special tools, coordinating fabrication and repair activities with approved machining workshops, and ensuring compliance with technical, quality, cost, and delivery requirements. The role defines manufacturing and repair methods, prepares Bills of Quantities, and monitors work orders through Maximo to guarantee that all localized components meet railway standards.

Key responsibilities

• Identify spare parts, tools, and assemblies suitable for local manufacturing or repair and support localization initiatives.
• Review drawings, specifications, tolerances, and technical requirements for localized components.
• Plan, coordinate, and oversee fabrication of spare parts, special tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and lifting devices.
• Define manufacturing processes, routing, machining steps, and work instructions; provide technical support during machining, assembly, and finishing.
• Supervise mechanical repair and reconditioning, prepare repair procedures, tolerances, acceptance criteria, and inspection requirements.
• Coordinate with approved local machining workshops, act as technical interface, and monitor progress, quality, and delivery timelines.
• Prepare Bills of Quantities, estimate material, machining, labor, and processing costs, and track actual costs versus estimates.

Required profile

• Experience supporting localization programs in an industrial or railway environment.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and tolerances.
• Strong understanding of fabrication, machining, welding, surface treatment, and heat‑treatment processes.
• Proficiency in cost estimation and budgeting for mechanical components.
