R&D Scientist – Biomaterials & Inorganic Materials

About the role

Nebita Biochemicals is an early‑stage materials‑science venture developing high‑value biochemicals and biomaterials from underutilised biological resources. The R&D Scientist will help transform eggshell‑derived calcium into calibrated calcium‑based materials such as hydroxyapatite, building the laboratory capability from the ground up.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute laboratory experiments, including eggshell feedstock qualification and pre‑treatment.
• Develop calcium carbonate and calcium‑phosphate chemistry routes for hydroxyapatite synthesis and process optimisation.
• Perform precipitation, thermal treatment, and powder processing, followed by XRD, FTIR and SEM/EDS characterisation.
• Troubleshoot experiments, conduct root‑cause analysis, and document SOPs and reproducibility studies.
• Assist in designing Nebita’s future internal R&D laboratory and define preliminary product specifications.

Required profile

• Degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Inorganic or Physical Chemistry, Ceramics/Bioceramics, Biomaterials, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Materials, Nanomaterials or related fields (MSc preferred, exceptional BSc candidates considered).
• Hands‑on experience with at least one of the following: hydroxyapatite, calcium phosphates, bioceramics, precipitation synthesis, calcination, ceramic powders, XRD, FTIR, SEM/EDS, particle characterisation.

• Particle size and morphology characterisation.
