Regional Security Adviser, Office of the Security Coordinator (OSC), Arab States Regional Office

About the role

The Regional Security Adviser (RSA) supports the Office of the Security Coordinator (OSC) in delivering UNFPA’s safety and security strategy across the Arab States Regional Office. Based in Cairo, the RSA works closely with the Regional Director and senior managers to ensure security policies, risk assessments and business continuity plans are effectively implemented.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic and technical security advice to regional and country leadership, programme managers and external partners.
• Lead the development, validation and testing of Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) for the region.
• Coordinate crisis management and preparedness activities, ensuring alignment with UNFPA and UN security frameworks.
• Represent UNFPA in UN Security Management Policy Forums and liaise with other UN agencies on security matters.
• Monitor and analyse security risks, delivering timely recommendations to mitigate threats to personnel, assets and operations.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in security management within an international or UN context.
• Proven ability to work as a senior member of a regional management team.
• Strong understanding of UN security policies, the UN Framework of Accountability and Business Continuity Management.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with senior officials and external partners.
