School Counselor

About the role

The School Counselor supports students’ academic progress, social development, and emotional well‑being. The role involves individual and group counseling, academic advising, and collaboration with teachers, parents, and school leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling to address academic, emotional, social, and behavioral needs.
• Assist students with stress, anxiety, peer relationships, and self‑esteem, fostering resilience and coping strategies.
• Develop action plans for students needing extra academic support, working with the Academic Quality Controller and Student Life Coordinator.
• Maintain confidential counseling records in line with school policies.
• Guide students through transitions such as grade changes, school transfers, and post‑secondary planning.
• Collaborate with teachers, leadership, and parents to enhance community engagement and student well‑being.
• Design and implement bullying prevention initiatives and related awareness programs.
• Contribute to staff development by sharing insights on student well‑being and behavior management.
• Participate in child protection meetings, providing professional observations and recommendations.
• Deliver workshops on social‑emotional learning, mental health, bullying prevention, and life skills.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Education or equivalent; Master’s degree is a plus.
• Proficiency in English; knowledge of the local language is advantageous.
• Previous experience in a school or educational setting; experience with SABIS® is a plus.
• Professional conduct, accountability, and a commitment to continuous learning.
