School Doctor

About the role

Inspired Education, a group of premium private schools, is recruiting a School Doctor for King's School The Crown in Cairo, reporting to the Executive Head. The school serves students aged 18 months to 18 years and offers extensive facilities including a football field, 400m track, swimming pool, sports hall and performing arts theatre. The doctor promotes and safeguards the health and well-being of students, provides medical care and supports a safe, healthy school environment.

Key responsibilities

• Treat children, staff and visitors and encourage children to return to their normal timetable as soon as possible
• Provide confidential counselling and health advice
• Administer medication according to school policy and keep accurate records
• Perform health checks to assist with diagnosis
• Liaise with parents and staff on medical and mental health matters
• Keep the School Medical Room organised, stocked and equipped, and ensure safe storage, use and disposal of medicines, checking expiry dates
• Provide first aid kits and replace supplies
• Maintain children's files, medical records and attendance records, including incident and treatment records
• Create and update the list of children with 'need to know' conditions and develop individual health care plans with parents and staff
• Treat children with conditions such as diabetes, asthma, enuresis and allergies
• Run procedures for control of infectious diseases and child surveillance programmes (height, weight, dental)
• Raise awareness of health issues among pupils and staff
• Obtain and retain medical questionnaires and parental consent forms
• Provide cover for school activities and occasional events, and perform other tasks as required

Required profile

• 2-5 years of relevant work experience, preferably with international schools
• BA in General Medicine and Surgery from a recognised medical university
• Evidence of successful healthcare experience working with children and adolescents
• Fluency in English
