Senior Backend Developer (PHP/Laravel)

About the role

SAQAYA is seeking a Senior Backend Developer to join its growing engineering team. You will work on high‑performance, scalable applications that power digital experiences for international clients.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services using PHP.
• Build and integrate RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs.
• Develop scalable, secure, and high‑performance applications.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well‑documented code following best practices.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical documentation.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers in cross‑functional Agile teams.
• Troubleshoot, optimise, and continuously improve application performance and reliability.
• Leverage AI‑powered development tools to boost productivity and code quality.

Required profile

• Strong commercial experience as a Backend Developer.
• Excellent PHP development skills.
• Experience with Laravel (highly advantageous).
• Solid experience designing and consuming REST and/or GraphQL APIs.
• Proven ability to build scalable, high‑performance applications.
• Strong experience working in Linux environments.
• Experience with code reviews, technical documentation, and writing clean code.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating within Agile teams.
• Strong written and spoken English.
