Senior Backend Engineer – Web Applications

About the role

Foodics is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join its fast‑growing tech team. You will be responsible for building, maintaining and scaling the back‑end services that power a leading restaurant management and payment platform used in more than 35 countries.

Key responsibilities

• Define and guide the architecture of multiple web applications.
• Collaborate with designers, engineers and product managers to deliver new features.
• Implement functionality using test‑driven development and write clean, self‑documenting code.
• Diagnose and resolve complex performance, scalability and latency issues.
• Integrate data from various services and databases.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead technical projects.
• Research and adopt new technologies while reducing technical debt.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of experience developing large‑scale web applications.
• Strong background with relational databases and RESTful APIs.
• Proficiency in PHP and Laravel (or comparable backend language).
• Experience writing unit and integration tests and applying TDD.
• Solid understanding of high‑availability, low‑latency backend services.
• Good communication skills in English and ability to work remotely across time zones.
• Fintech or food‑tech experience is a plus.
