Senior Child Protection & MHPSS Officer

About the role

The Senior Child Protection & MHPSS Officer will lead child protection and mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) components of a two‑year project (March 2026 – February 2028) targeting the Sudanese community in Aswan. Based in the Aswan field office, the officer will spend at least 70 % of time in field sites, reporting to the Project Manager and working closely with technical assistants.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and monitor monthly work plans aligned with the overall project schedule.
• Oversee safe, quality implementation of child protection activities across field sites.
• Provide technical guidance and capacity‑building to the Child Protection team, including a Coordinator and six case workers.
• Ensure compliance with Child Safeguarding standards in liaison with the safeguarding focal point.
• Lead MHPSS interventions within Community Learning Schools, assessing training needs of teachers, school managers, social workers and psychologists.
• Design and deliver tailored safeguarding and MHPSS training sessions for school staff.
• Integrate child protection and MHPSS principles into the broader educational framework.
• Advise school staff and stakeholders on safeguarding and MHPSS best practices.
• Manage project expenditures, maintain up‑to‑date financial records and contribute to budget development following Save the Children guidelines.
• Facilitate supervision meetings (face‑to‑face and online) with technical assistants to monitor MHPSS implementation.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional reporting to the Project Manager.
• Direct responsibility for a Child Protection Coordinator and six case workers.
• Field‑oriented role with at least 70 % time spent onsite in Aswan.
