Senior Laboratory Teaching Engineer – Mechanical Engineering

About the role

The Senior Laboratory Teaching Engineer supports the Mechanical Engineering Department by operating, maintaining, and managing laboratory facilities. Reporting to the Technical Operations Manager and Industrial Liaison, the role ensures labs are ready for teaching, research, and external customers while upholding safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain all assigned lab assets, including machines, equipment, tools, and infrastructure.
• Prepare technical data and documentation for accreditation reports (e.g., ABET, Supreme Council).
• Assist faculty in equipment selection, procurement, and vendor management, including market surveys and price quotations.
• Set up, conduct, and explain experiments; run trial runs for student sessions.
• Develop and update lab manuals, procedures, and work instructions in collaboration with faculty lab supervisors.
• Maintain inventory, procure consumables, and ensure smooth lab workflow.
• Provide training to students, teaching assistants, and sub‑ordinates on lab equipment usage.
• Support research projects, theses, and grant activities of undergraduate, graduate, and faculty members.
• Ensure lab safety, compliance, and representation of the department at university events.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in laboratory operation and maintenance within a mechanical engineering context.
• Proven ability to support faculty, students, and external customers in teaching and research activities.
• Experience with procurement processes, vendor liaison, and inventory management.
• Strong understanding of lab safety standards and accreditation documentation.
