Senior Software Engineer – Data Ingestion & API

About the role

CarsXE is seeking a senior engineer to own the end‑to‑end system that transforms scattered vehicle data into a fast, reliable API. You will be responsible for everything from data scraping and validation to storage design and API delivery, ensuring high performance and uptime for our B2B customers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain resilient scrapers and ingestion pipelines across multiple vehicle data sources.
• Create idempotent, re‑runnable ETL pipelines with built‑in validation and quality gates.
• Design storage solutions that support large‑scale analytics and sub‑second API reads.
• Improve API latency, error handling, versioning, and overall developer experience.
• Own production systems: monitoring, alerting, incident response, and preventive fixes.

Required profile

• 7+ years of backend software engineering experience delivering production systems.
• Hands‑on experience building and maintaining web scrapers or large‑scale data ingestion pipelines.
• Strong data‑engineering fundamentals: ETL design, data modeling, deduplication, idempotency, and handling dirty upstream data.
• Experience designing storage for differing access patterns (analytics warehouse vs. low‑latency serving layer).
• Proven track record shaping customer‑facing APIs with solid design principles.
• Comfort with cloud infrastructure, specifically Google Cloud Platform services.
