Senior Technical Office Engineer (Mechanical)

About the role

Archirodon, an international EPC contractor active for more than half a century in energy, marine, infrastructure and defence and security projects, is looking for a Senior Technical Office Engineer (Mechanical) to join its team in the Regional Office in New Cairo, Egypt. The role covers the technical office work for mechanical works across tendering, design review and procurement.

Key responsibilities

• Review tender documents, design drawings, specifications and other technical requirements for HVAC, plumbing and firefighting systems.
• Prepare cost estimates and tender pricing for mechanical works.
• Review mechanical designs and identify discrepancies, missing information or areas needing clarification.
• Prepare and raise RFIs during tendering and technical review.
• Perform quantity take-offs and prepare/review Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for mechanical materials, equipment and systems.
• Prepare purchase requisitions and evaluate vendor and subcontractor offers, including technical comparisons to support supplier and subcontractor selection.
• Review mechanical technical submittals and coordinate with suppliers for clarifications.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and support tendering and awarded projects with the required technical office activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, preferably Mechanical Power Engineering.
• 10-12 years of experience in Mechanical Technical Office and/or tender estimation in construction.
• Strong experience in HVAC, plumbing and firefighting systems.
• Experience with reputable contractors or EPC companies in a similar role is highly preferred.
• Very good command of written and spoken English.
• Organized, able to work independently with minimal supervision, with strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Required skills

• Tender estimation, design review, quantity surveying, purchase requisitions and technical/commercial evaluation of vendor offers.
• Good knowledge of mechanical codes, standards and engineering practices.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office; knowledge of HVAC/design software is an advantage.
