Site Accountant – Construction Finance

About the role

The Site Accountant will manage the company’s financial records for construction projects, ensuring accurate accounting, timely reporting, and effective cost control. This role supports project teams by maintaining compliance with IFRS/GAAP, tax regulations, and internal policies.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and post general ledger entries; oversee month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end closing.
• Produce financial statements in accordance with IFRS/GAAP and allocate project revenues and expenses.
• Monitor project budgets, verify subcontractor invoices, retention amounts and progress billings; reconcile project accounts.
• Review and approve vendor and subcontractor payments; follow up on client receivables and manage advances, retentions and progress payments.
• Ensure tax, VAT and statutory compliance; coordinate with internal and external auditors and maintain internal controls.
• Prepare cash‑flow forecasts, monitor bank transactions and perform treasury reconciliations.
• Identify and recommend improvements to accounting systems, procedures and reporting tools; mentor junior accountants.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA, CMA or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of accounting experience, including at least 1 year in the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, cost control and project accounting.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and organizational abilities.
• High attention to detail and effective communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or Microsoft Dynamics.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Understanding of IFRS and VAT compliance.
