Software Architect - Automotive Brake Systems

About the role

Avelabs, an Arrow Company and leading automotive software engineering services provider, is looking for a Software Architect to join its Cairo team. The role works closely with the customer's brake business unit and defines the overall architecture and design of Brake Business Unit software projects and software product platforms, including modular, standardized architectures and their deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Work with the software project team and the system, hardware and safety engineering teams of the related platform.
• Own the ASPICE SWE2 process area: definition, development and deployment of the application software architecture built in Model-Based Design (MBD) following BRBU process standards.
• Define solutions with modularity, reuse and testability in mind, anticipating future extensions and modifications.
• Produce strong architecture documentation and specifications (static and dynamic architecture, design alternatives, CPU load optimization).
• Support offshore BSW teams on BSW architecture and interfaces between ASW and BSW.
• Guide and mentor team members, support the validation team on the integration test strategy, and communicate early on issues affecting delivery schedule and quality.
• Propose process improvements and ensure the building-block approach of the BRBU platforms through reuse across products.

Required profile

• Degree in computer science and/or electronics.
• 10 years of software engineering experience, at least 5 in the automotive industry on MBD projects in an AUTOSAR context.
• 5 years as a software architect.
• Full-lifecycle development of real-time embedded software and critical safety architecture (safety decomposition, freedom from interference, E-GAS, ASIL C/D).
• Fluency in English is a must; ability to work in a multicultural environment.

Required skills

• Software architecture (static and dynamic), embedded C, ASPICE, ISO 26262-6 and AUTOSAR.
• UML tools such as Enterprise Architect, MATLAB/Simulink and MBD engineering.
• Tools: DOORS, DOORS NG, SVN, Jira.
• Knowledge of microcontroller architecture.
