Software Engineer – Real-time High-Volume Transaction Systems

About the role

We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to join Smartology’s small, collaborative engineering team. You will work on real-time, high-volume transaction systems, leveraging big-data, cloud-native and AI-driven technologies to deliver innovative features.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in Agile one-month sprints, contributing to user stories, backlog prioritisation, daily stand-ups and sprint ceremonies.
• Take ownership of projects from technical design through implementation, testing, deployment and optimisation.
• Design, develop and maintain high-performance Java 17 services for algorithmic models such as campaign pacing, auction bid valuation, inventory forecasting and dynamic matching.
• Apply Test-Driven Development and Continuous Delivery practices to ensure robust, production-ready code.
• Deploy and optimise services on cloud-based infrastructure across multiple global locations, meeting strict response-time and QPS targets.
• Collaborate with colleagues to raise engineering standards, share knowledge and reduce key-person dependencies.

Required profile

• University degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Applied Science or a related discipline.
• Recent, hands-on experience developing complex systems in Java 17.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for high-performance, algorithm-driven software.
