Solutions Architect - Automatic Fare Collection

About the role

Hitachi Rail's Solutions Architect is based in Cairo and plays a central role in designing, defining and delivering engineering solutions for Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) systems. The role contributes to complex projects in Egypt while collaborating with international teams, acting as the main technical interface between the customer and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze RFPs from a technical perspective, identify customer requirements and gaps, and design tailored, cost-effective solutions for urban mass transit.
• Work with the Capture Lead, Bid Manager and engineering teams to create integrated bid responses, and with Strategy & Marketing, Engineering and Offers.
• Produce four technical outputs for the Bid Manager: Requirements Compliance, Design Validation (DVa), Technical Offer and Engineering Effort Estimate (EEE).
• Write, review and approve specification documents (system and interface specifications) and manage requirements and customer needs.
• Apply systems engineering methodology and define the physical and logical architecture of AFC systems, including block diagrams, interface specifications and integration plans.
• Ensure global consistency of engineering processes, tools and subcontractor plans.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in technical solution design, preferably in mass transit or transportation technology.
• Proven experience in RFP analysis, technical proposal development and engineering effort costing.
• Demonstrated experience in systems engineering and deployment of complex, critical systems and third-party integrations.
• Prior experience in rail, transportation or AFC is a plus; open payment and web-oriented architecture experience is also a plus.
• Excellent written and spoken English and willingness to travel occasionally to France or other locations.
