Tech Expert – Data Acquisition Engineer

About the role

Dar is seeking a Mid‑Level Data Acquisition Engineer to design, develop, and commission IoT/OT data‑acquisition connectors for building automation and industrial environments. You will work independently on protocol integration, edge platform deployment, and data‑quality assurance, using Python and modern container technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and extend protocol connectors (BACnet/IP, Modbus TCP/RTU, OPC‑UA, MQTT, SNMP, REST) in Python following team standards.
• Configure device discovery, polling, subscriptions, batching, retries and data transformation logic.
• Deploy and configure the Para Edge runtime, Docker‑based services and Kepware gateways in client and lab settings.
• Validate networking prerequisites (firewall rules, VLAN segmentation, DNS, NAT, routing) and troubleshoot communication issues with packet captures and device diagnostics.
• Lead commissioning activities: device discovery, ingestion verification, tag naming, units, schemas and timestamps.
• Implement data‑quality checks (freshness, completeness, correctness, schema compliance) and monitor connector health via dashboards and alerts.
• Execute OTA updates, manage container lifecycles and ensure runtime stability.
• Develop Python automation for configuration generation, mapping validation, deployment checks and regression testing; write unit and integration tests.
• Produce clear deployment documentation, troubleshooting guides and integration notes.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of software engineering experience in IoT/OT, smart buildings or industrial systems.
• Strong production‑grade Python development skills.
• Hands‑on experience with at least two of the listed protocols in real deployments.
• Ability to work independently and lead commissioning activities.
• Comfort using AI‑powered engineering tools while validating outputs for security and quality.
