Technical Office Engineer (Electrical BIM)

About the role

Hitachi Rail GTS Egypt LLC is looking for an experienced Technical Office Engineer in Cairo to develop, implement and manage Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes for electrical systems in its railway projects. The role ensures accuracy, efficiency and compliance with project specifications and industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain electrical BIM models across the project lifecycle, from conceptual design to construction and handover.
• Perform clash detection and coordinate with mechanical, structural and architectural disciplines to resolve conflicts and optimise designs.
• Generate detailed electrical drawings, schematics and reports from BIM models, in line with applicable codes and standards.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers and contractors to integrate BIM into design and construction workflows.
• Take part in design reviews and give expert input on electrical systems and BIM implementation.
• Help develop and enforce BIM standards, protocols and best practices in the electrical engineering department.
• Carry out quantity take-offs and material estimations from BIM models for procurement and cost control.
• Train and support colleagues on BIM software and processes, and stay up to date with BIM technologies and industry trends.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer focused on BIM in railway, infrastructure or heavy industrial sectors.
• Good knowledge of ELV systems and solid understanding of electrical principles such as power distribution, lighting, grounding and control systems.
• Experience with relevant electrical codes and standards (e.g. IEC, NFPA, local regulations).
• Fluency in English, written and spoken.
• Experience with railway signalling or traction power systems is a significant advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency in BIM software such as Revit MEP, AutoCAD Electrical or Navisworks.
• Ability to read and interpret complex electrical drawings, specifications and project documents.
• Analytical, problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
