Backend Intern

About the role

Join dopay’s engineering team as a Backend Intern and contribute to building robust server‑side APIs for a fast‑growing fintech focused on payroll disbursement in Egypt. You will work alongside senior engineers, gaining hands‑on experience in a production environment while receiving mentorship and guidance.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain server‑side APIs and services in a production codebase.
• Write and optimise database queries, design schemas, and improve performance.
• Integrate third‑party services, handling authentication, data flow, and error handling.
• Write tests and assist in debugging issues across the backend stack.
• Participate in code reviews and collaborate on feature delivery with senior engineers.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with Ruby on Rails and PostgreSQL.
• Solid understanding of relational databases and performance tuning.
