Community Engagement & Advocacy Senior Officer (Minya)

About the role

The Community Engagement & Advocacy Senior Officer will lead the planning, implementation and monitoring of community mobilisation and advocacy activities for the GAC SRHR project in Minya, Upper Egypt. The role focuses on improving adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights through gender‑transformative, youth‑centred approaches.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement participatory community engagement strategies that promote adolescent SRHR and gender equality.
• Coordinate the establishment, training and functioning of youth groups, women’s associations, civil‑society networks, peer educators and parent committees.
• Oversee community dialogues, awareness campaigns and social‑behavioural change interventions targeting adolescents, caregivers and community leaders.
• Integrate safeguarding, gender equality and meaningful youth participation into all community‑based activities.
• Develop and execute local advocacy strategies to address harmful norms affecting adolescent SRHR.
• Build and maintain relationships with local authorities, civil‑society organisations, traditional and religious leaders.
• Facilitate multi‑stakeholder meetings and community forums to influence local decision‑making and policy implementation.
• Identify opportunities to amplify the voices of adolescents and marginalised groups in policy discussions.
• Prepare advocacy and policy briefs that capture community knowledge and evidence.

Required profile

• Proven experience in community engagement, mobilisation and advocacy, preferably within adolescent SRHR or public health programmes.
• Strong understanding of gender‑transformative approaches and safeguarding principles.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with youth leaders, civil‑society partners and local authorities.
• Excellent coordination and communication skills to lead multi‑stakeholder initiatives.
• Experience in designing and delivering awareness campaigns and social‑behavioural change interventions.
