Estimation Engineer

About the role

The Estimation Engineer is a full‑time, on‑site position based in Egypt, responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and bills of quantities (BOQs) for structural steel and related fabrication projects. The role supports the project team by reviewing drawings, analysing requirements and delivering competitive estimates that enable efficient project planning and execution.

Key responsibilities

• Review engineering drawings and specifications to extract quantities.
• Perform detailed quantity take‑offs and prepare BOQs.
• Analyse project requirements and coordinate with engineering, procurement and production teams.
• Conduct market research on material prices and subcontractor rates.
• Participate in bid preparation and support negotiations with suppliers and clients.
• Track project costs against estimates and update cost databases.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of estimation processes.

Required profile

• Strong proficiency in BOQ preparation and project estimation for structural steel.
• Background in civil or structural engineering with knowledge of construction and fabrication methods.
• Ability to conduct detailed research on material prices and market trends.
• Negotiation skills for engaging with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Experience with CAD tools and estimation software; familiarity with ERP systems is a plus.
• Attention to detail, strong numerical and analytical abilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related field; experience in steel fabrication preferred.
