Principal Professional, Financial Controller

About the role

The Principal Professional, Financial Controller will join the Finance, Budget, and Accounting Department at the NDB Headquarters in Shanghai. Reporting to the Chief Financial Controller, this senior position ensures the Bank’s financial statements and control activities comply with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and relevant regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with IFRS and applicable laws.
• Adapt accounting standards for loans, grants, borrowings, investments, derivatives, capital, payroll, fixed assets, and administrative accounts.
• Manage financial control processes, including general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and budgeting cycles.
• Conduct comprehensive balance‑sheet and income‑statement analysis, monitor financial risks, and recommend corrective actions.
• Produce quarterly and annual financial performance analyses and investor roadshow presentations.
• Support internal audit closure, system implementation, and bank‑wide automation initiatives.
• Review external data submissions to rating agencies and develop financial control initiatives aligned with strategic priorities.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in financial reporting and control within a banking or financial institution.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and related regulatory frameworks.
• Proven ability to manage complex accounting areas such as loan and treasury accounting.
• Excellent analytical skills with a focus on risk identification and mitigation.
• Ability to advise managers on innovative financial control approaches.
