Rolling Stock Lead Engineer

About the role

The Rolling Stock Lead Engineer will oversee the engineering and technical management of railway rolling stock systems, ensuring safety, reliability and efficiency. The role drives maintenance optimisation, supports continuous improvement and integrates emerging technologies to boost asset performance.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all railway safety standards, conduct risk assessments, safety audits and support emergency response planning.
• Maintain asset data integrity in IBM Maximo, define maintenance intervals, manage change orders and monitor availability and reliability metrics.
• Provide expert guidance on traction, braking, pneumatic and auxiliary systems, lead root‑cause analyses and produce technical reports for operations teams.
• Recommend upgrades, retrofits and new technology integrations, collaborating with signalling, depot, power supply and track engineering groups.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Fluent in English and Arabic; French is a plus.
• 5‑7 years of experience in rolling stock engineering or maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, maintenance strategy development and technical documentation.
