Senior Project Engineer

About the role

Tetra Pak is looking for a highly motivated Senior Mechanical Project Engineer to build and lead the Mechanical Engineering capability for its Middle East & Africa Project Centre. Based in Cairo, you will work across the full project lifecycle, from concept to commissioning, ensuring safe, efficient and cost‑effective plant solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering activities from concept development through to project hand‑over.
• Develop and maintain 3D plant models, equipment layouts and piping arrangements using approved CAD and plant design tools.
• Prepare and review GA drawings, plant layouts, piping layouts, installation, fabrication and isometric drawings.
• Coordinate equipment placement, pipe routing, access, maintenance zones and safety clearances.
• Perform material take‑offs, installation material calculations and generate Bills of Materials.
• Conduct design reviews, constructability assessments and support risk assessments.
• Develop piping concepts, routing solutions and installation methodologies for hygienic process installations.
• Provide technical support during fabrication, prefabrication and site installation activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience in mechanical engineering for industrial plant projects.
• Strong knowledge of the full project lifecycle, including design, procurement, installation and commissioning.
• Ability to work closely with Process, Automation, Procurement and Project Management teams.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and a focus on safety, quality and cost efficiency.

Required skills

• 3D CAD and plant design software (e.g., AutoCAD Plant 3D, SolidWorks).
• Piping design and equipment integration.
• Material take‑off and BOM creation.
• Construction and installation engineering.
