Software Engineer 2 – Agentic Foundation

About the role

Procore is looking for a Software Engineer 2 to join the Agentic Foundation team, which builds the AI‑native tooling and services that power the company’s software development lifecycle. You will work on high‑impact projects that enable engineers to leverage generative AI across code creation, review, testing, and deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve core agentic tooling and frameworks that embed AI capabilities into the development workflow.
• Conduct thorough, constructive code reviews and pair with teammates to raise code quality and share knowledge.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, platform, and product engineering teams to align standards and avoid duplicated effort.
• Establish and champion engineering standards, best practices, and platform contracts for hundreds of development teams.
• Define and monitor telemetry, lead‑time, change‑failure rate, and mean‑time‑to‑recover metrics to continuously improve delivery performance.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, with full‑stack or backend focus.
• Strong fundamentals in at least one of Ruby on Rails, Python, or TypeScript and ability to work across multiple languages.
• Solid DevOps instincts, understanding deployment strategies, rollbacks, feature flags, and safe‑to‑deploy practices.
• Hands‑on experience with AI coding tools such as Claude, Cursor, Copilot, or similar, and building AI‑assisted workflows (prompt engineering, MCP integrations, evaluations, agentic pipelines).
• Experience with modern web development lifecycle: development, testing, staging, deployment, and monitoring.
• Comfort exploring uncharted AI tooling territory and evaluating new technologies critically.
