Technician – Computer Science & Engineering Labs

About the role

The Computer Science and Engineering Technician is responsible for the upkeep of a wide range of equipment in university labs and the server room, from low‑cost gadgets to high‑end servers. The role combines hands‑on hardware maintenance with proactive inventory management to ensure uninterrupted research and teaching activities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily maintenance operations in CSE labs and the server room.
• Supervise hardware‑focused labs such as Networks, Architecture, Digital Design, and Embedded Systems.
• Participate in the annual departmental inventory process.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electronic boards, lab instruments, PCs, laptops, printers and power supplies.
• Assist in setting up hardware experiments and senior graduation project presentations, including cabling and equipment installation.
• Perform any additional tasks assigned by the senior lab engineer.

Required profile

• University degree in a related field or a technical diploma with relevant experience.
• Minimum five years of experience in electronics repair, hardware troubleshooting or similar technical roles.
• Reasonable command of English.

Required skills

• Hands‑on electronics repair and soldering.
• Precise micro‑soldering on motherboards using specialized tools.
• Strong ability to read and analyze PCB traces and diagnose fine electronic circuit faults.
• Good knowledge of PC hardware maintenance.
• General hardware troubleshooting expertise.
