Void Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Void Engineer to safeguard personnel, equipment and production at our Sukari gold mine in Marsa Alam, Egypt. The role focuses on preventing uncontrolled ground subsidence, wall failures and pit floor collapses by managing underground cavities beneath active mining zones.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and maintain a 3‑D Void Register using drilling data, surveys, historical maps and geophysical techniques.
• Assess stability of voids under pit floors, walls and haul ramps and design mitigation measures such as probe‑drilling, controlled backfilling or exclusion zones.
• Implement and analyse monitoring systems (radar, LiDAR, prisms, UAV photogrammetry, crack mapping) and manage Trigger Action Response Plans.
• Collaborate with Short‑Term Planning and Drill & Blast teams to ensure blast vibrations do not breach voids.
• Provide daily/weekly hazard updates, ensure compliance with the Ground Control Management Plan and lead investigations of ground failures or near‑misses.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering.
• Interest in open‑pit mining operations and preferably prior mining experience.
• Basic computer and diagnostic skills.
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to obtain an underground driver’s licence.
• Proficient written and spoken English.
