Assistant Category Manager

About the role

Talabat is expanding its grocery offering through the innovative cloud‑store concept tMart, delivering groceries in 30 minutes across the Middle East. We are looking for an Assistant Category Manager to take full ownership of assortment, pricing, promotions and supply for the grocery category.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the complete category lifecycle, including assortment planning, pricing strategy, promotional calendars and supplier relationships.
• Monitor economic performance of the grocery category – sales, gross margin, profit and loss – ensuring alignment with the commercial strategy.
• Define and maintain the local assortment, integrate regional product ranges, and provide demand forecasts to the replenishment team.
• Negotiate with local and international suppliers on cost, discounts, rebates and payment terms.
• Conduct market price audits, set recommended retail prices, and develop country‑specific promotion plans.
• Collaborate with operations, logistics and marketing teams to ensure smooth execution of promotional events and resolve supplier issues.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience managing multiple product categories in large retail or FMCG environments, preferably in an international setting.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional projects and build high‑performing teams.
• Detail‑oriented, structured, and capable of prioritising tasks to deliver solutions quickly.
• Willingness to work hands‑on across the business, including warehouse floor or customer support when needed.
