Field Engineer – Mobile Equipment Condition Monitoring

About the role

The Field Engineer will ensure the reliability of the heavy‑vehicle fleet at the Sukari gold mine by performing condition monitoring, preventive maintenance inspections and early‑fault detection on mobile equipment. Acting as a technical bridge between the workshop, planning and reliability teams, the role uses advanced diagnostics and data‑gathering techniques to keep operations running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Execute non‑running and running equipment checks, including TA1 visual and TA2 performance inspections on excavators, shovels and other earth‑moving machinery.
• Utilise CAT Electronic Technician (CAT ET) and CAT Service Information System (CAT SIS) for diagnostics and component tracking.
• Perform wear measurements, ultrasonic thickness (UT) checks, thermography, swing‑deflection measurements, custom track services and NDT ball‑stud inspections.
• Manage maintenance workflows in SAP: create notifications, define parts and labour requirements, and monitor backlogs.
• Coordinate oil‑sample extraction and analysis to support lubricant engineering.
• Follow all Standard Work Instructions (SWI), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and site sustainability guidelines.

Required profile

• Completion of a structured 3‑year Technical Engineering Apprenticeship or Graduate Technical Advisor program (mandatory).
• Proven experience in condition monitoring and mobile equipment diagnostics, preferably with excavators and shovels.
• Prior work with Mantrac is a strong advantage; gold‑mining experience is not required.
