General Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a General Accountant to join our finance team in the tourism and hospitality sector. The role involves managing day‑to‑day accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial records, and supporting the company’s financial health.

Key responsibilities

• Post journal entries accurately and maintain balanced ledgers.
• File, retrieve, retain, store, compile, code and update accounting records.
• Verify invoices and process payments.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliation statements.
• Handle payroll processing.
• Manage petty‑cash operations, including bill inspection and cash counts.
• Check and book expenses, reconcile accounts, and issue cheques on time.
• Conduct month‑end closing activities to reflect current costs.
• Follow up on pending customer payments and generate invoices.
• Review tour guide and supplier accounts, price new tours and update existing ones.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 1–2 years of accounting experience, preferably in tourism or hospitality.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations and financial reporting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and holidays during peak seasons.

Required skills

• Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP or Oracle.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
