Software Tech Lead - Deep Tech Startup

About the role

An early-stage deep tech startup is looking for a Software Tech Lead to build and lead an agile, output-oriented team. The company works on structural optimization products that make buildings more efficient and sustainable, and you will be one of the first software engineers, joining three existing software engineers and twelve computational structural engineers. Performance is judged by the quality and impact of your contributions, your influence on collaboration and delivery, and your ownership of the product.

Key responsibilities

• Architect, build and ship end-to-end features across desktop (Python, Qt, VTK/PyVista, NumPy, Pandas, SQLite, Rust), backend (AWS S3, AWS Lambda, FastAPI, DynamoDB) and web (CloudFront, Next.js).
• Contribute actively to the codebase (up to 60% of the time) on high-complexity tasks, technical enablers and PoCs.
• Design scalable, high-availability backends and maintain the technical roadmap, documenting architectures and workflows.
• Work with stakeholders, test rigorously and drive code quality through code reviews.
• Collaborate with the CTO and CEO to align technical work with the startup's strategy.
• Mentor software engineers, improve their code quality and support recruitment and team scaling once you own the product.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• 5-12 years of software development experience, including building, maintaining and scaling production applications.
• Strong Python skills and a builder's mindset; pure AI-only profiles are not sought.
• Startup mentality, product ownership and strong communication; hands-on developers who do not refuse to code.
