Barge Engineer

About the role

The Barge Engineer is responsible for supervising and coordinating all marine activities aboard the vessel, ensuring safety, environmental compliance, and operational efficiency. This role involves direct oversight of rig moves, stability management, lifting operations, and emergency response.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise rig move preparation, stability calculations, and jacking system readiness.
• Monitor weather forecasts and soil condition reports to plan safe rig moves.
• Maintain and certify all marine equipment, including firefighting, lifting gear, and helicopter operations.
• Conduct daily stability and ballast checks, ensuring load criteria stay within design limits.
• Plan and direct complex crane lifts, cargo handling, and personnel transfers.
• Coordinate with drilling crews to support safe drilling and work‑over operations.
• Participate in the Emergency Response Team, conduct drills, and ensure well‑control procedures are followed.

Required profile

• Proven experience in marine or offshore engineering on barges or rigs.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations, industry codes, and environmental standards.
• Ability to lead crew members and manage multidisciplinary marine activities.
