Rolling Stock Engineer (Depot Equipment)

About the role

The Rolling Stock Engineer leads maintenance operations for rolling stock and depot equipment, ensuring reliability, availability, and safety. The role combines operational efficiency, technical excellence, and proactive team leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all maintenance activities, monitor efficiency, and implement corrective actions.
• Investigate equipment failures and recurring issues to improve system reliability.
• Coordinate cross‑functional technical efforts and manage sub‑contractor requirements.
• Manage human, material, and financial resources to optimise output and reduce downtime.
• Lead day‑to‑day team coordination, task assignment, shift planning and conflict resolution.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records in Maximo, generate and close work orders, and analyse data trends.
• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and promote a strong safety culture.

Required profile

• Experience in operations and maintenance management for rolling stock or similar assets.
• Proven ability to manage resources, spare‑parts forecasting and lifecycle planning.
• Strong team‑leadership skills, including coaching, mentoring and succession planning.
• Familiarity with digital maintenance tools and reporting processes.
• Commitment to safety standards, incident investigation and continuous improvement.
