Assistant Category Manager – Ultra Fresh

About the role

Talabat is looking for an Assistant Category Manager to drive the growth of its Ultra Fresh grocery offering, the region’s first cloud store concept delivering groceries in 30 minutes at hypermarket prices. You will work across multiple Middle Eastern markets, shaping assortment, pricing and promotional strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end category management, including assortment planning, pricing, offers and supply coordination.
• Monitor economic performance of assigned categories (sales, gross margin, P&L) and ensure alignment with the commercial strategy.
• Implement category plans, pricing guidelines and promotional calendars, and provide input to operations on tools, fixtures and workflows.
• Negotiate with local suppliers, manage contracts, and resolve any supplier‑related issues.
• Conduct market price audits, collect competitor pricing data, and adjust pricing accordingly.
• Develop and execute local promotional activities, analysing results to improve future campaigns.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience managing multiple product categories for large FMCG retailers in an international setting.
• Specific experience with Ultra Fresh or rapid‑delivery grocery categories.
• Proven ability to build teams and lead cross‑functional projects at scale.
• Highly detail‑oriented, structured, and solution‑focused.
• Willingness to work on the warehouse floor or handle customer calls when needed.
