Assistant Chief Engineer

About the role

Rixos Hotels is looking for a detail-oriented, collaborative Assistant Chief Engineer to join its engineering team in Sharm el Sheikh, South Sinai, Egypt. The role supports the Chief Engineer in overseeing all technical operations and maintenance, keeping building systems running smoothly, coordinating maintenance teams and improving technical infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, implement and coordinate daily technical service across all facility systems
• Oversee operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, automation and infrastructure systems
• Coordinate engineering department activities and supervise maintenance teams
• Carry out scheduled and preventive maintenance, identify faults and complete repairs on time
• Manage the Building Management System (BMS) and adjust settings according to season and the Chief Engineer's directives
• Supervise external contractors and oversee renovation and technical projects from planning to completion
• Test fire alarm, safety and firefighting systems regularly
• Maintain guest areas, rooms and mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems
• Track work orders in technical software (e.g. Maximo), prepare reports and manage inventory and orders
• Handle emergencies and keep the Chief Engineer and stakeholders informed

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering or a related field
• 3-5 years of experience in hotel engineering, facilities management or construction
• Leadership and team supervision skills
• Strong problem-solving, attention to detail and time management
• Ability to work under pressure and communicate clearly in English; other languages are a plus
