Assistant Chief Engineer

About the role

An Accor hotel in Sharm el Sheikh, South Sinai, Egypt is looking for a detail-oriented, collaborative Assistant Chief Engineer to support the Chief Engineer in overseeing all technical operations and maintenance. The role ensures the smooth running of building systems, coordinates maintenance teams and drives continuous improvement of the technical infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, implement and coordinate daily technical service operations across all facility systems
• Oversee operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, automation and infrastructure systems
• Supervise maintenance teams and coordinate engineering department activities
• Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance, identify faults and ensure timely repairs
• Manage the Building Management System (BMS) and adjust settings according to season and the Chief Engineer's directives
• Supervise external contractors and oversee renovation and technical projects from planning to completion
• Test fire alarm, safety and firefighting systems and inspect guest rooms and mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems
• Track work orders in technical software such as Maximo, resolve issues and prepare reports
• Manage inventory, place orders and improve maintenance programs and records
• Respond to emergencies and communicate clearly with the Chief Engineer, team and stakeholders

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering or a related field
• 3-5 years of experience in hotel engineering, facilities management or construction
• Leadership and team management skills, with proven ability to work under pressure and solve problems
• English written and spoken; other languages are a plus

Required skills

• Proficiency with Building Management Systems (BMS) and technical software such as Maximo
• Knowledge of fire safety, electrical systems and preventive maintenance
• Experience coordinating with external contractors and familiarity with cost management
