Construction Technician – Elevator & Escalator

About the role

Otis is seeking a Construction Technician to join its field team in Cairo. You will be responsible for ensuring safe and efficient installation, testing, and commissioning of elevators and escalators at client sites.

Key responsibilities

• Complete safety checklists before startup and verify all points are addressed.
• Assess guide shoes/rollers, perform cleaning, lubrication, and test over‑speed governors.
• Check and adjust static balancing, counterweights, and hydraulic lift components.
• Adjust, lubricate, and test the Safety Action Mechanism according to procedures.
• Install door skates, adjust doors, set locks, and verify bolt tightness.
• Inspect rope clips, traveling cable anchorages, and ensure safety devices stop lift operation when needed.
• Conduct unit safety checks by traveling the car top through the shaft and checking for interferences.
• Test all electrical functions including car doors, buttons, and intercoms.
• Escalate concerns, complete NCRs, and document process infractions.
• Set controller parameters, adjust acceleration/deceleration, and verify ride quality per Otis standards.
• Perform post‑installation factory checklist verification and prepare inspection reports.

Required profile

• 3–6 years of experience in the elevator sector.
• Strong knowledge of electricity and electrical engineering principles.
• Commitment to safety as a top priority.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
• Comfortable using electronic and digital tools.
