Consultant – Rheumatology, Rehabilitation & Physical Medicine

About the role

The Consultant of Rheumatology, Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine will deliver specialized clinical care to patients with musculoskeletal, rheumatologic and functional disorders within an on‑site hospital and clinic in Cairo. This full‑time position involves direct patient management, interdisciplinary collaboration, teaching, and participation in research activities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments, diagnose and manage acute and chronic rheumatologic and musculoskeletal conditions.
• Develop and oversee individualized rehabilitation and treatment plans.
• Supervise therapeutic interventions performed by physiotherapists, occupational therapists and nursing staff.
• Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, therapists, nurses and case managers.
• Participate in teaching medical students, residents and fellows.
• Contribute to clinical research and maintain accurate medical records in compliance with institutional standards.

Required profile

• Board certification or equivalent specialization in Rheumatology, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, or a closely related field.
• Completed residency (and fellowship where applicable) in relevant specialties.
• Proven clinical experience managing rheumatologic, musculoskeletal and complex rehabilitation cases.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities to work effectively in an academic, multidisciplinary environment.

Required skills

• Expertise in vocational and occupational rehabilitation program design.
• Competence in occupational therapy assessment and patient‑centered rehabilitation planning.
• Experience in case management to coordinate multidisciplinary care.
• Knowledge of exercise physiology for prescribing evidence‑based therapeutic exercise.
