Electrical Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join Sabbour Consulting’s multidisciplinary team. The role involves designing, developing and coordinating electrical power, lighting, grounding and telecom/low‑current systems for infrastructure and building projects, ensuring compliance with codes and client standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform electrical calculations including load, short‑circuit, voltage drop, illumination, earthing and lightning protection.
• Create electrical layouts, schematics and single‑line diagrams for medium and low voltage distribution, lighting and grounding systems.
• Design and coordinate telecom and low‑current systems such as structured cabling, CCTV, access control, public address, fire alarm interface and IP telephony.
• Prepare system layouts, riser diagrams, BOQs, technical specifications and material submittals.
• Collaborate with architectural, structural and other MEP disciplines and participate in design review meetings.
• Support the tender stage with clarifications, value‑engineering proposals and ensure designs meet client and authority requirements.
• Conduct internal design checks, maintain quality standards and assist in resolving site technical issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 2–5 years of experience in electrical and telecom design, preferably in consultancy or design offices.
• Experience with infrastructure, building or mixed‑use projects is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• AutoCAD (Revit MEP is a plus).
• Electrical calculation software (e.g., ETAP, Dialux or equivalent).
• Knowledge of IEC, NEC and BS electrical codes.
• Design of structured cabling, CCTV, access control, public address, fire alarm interface and IP telephony/network infrastructure.
• Preparation of BOQs and technical specifications.
