Full Stack Engineer – Backend & Data Pipeline

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to design, build, and maintain a PostgreSQL‑based data pipeline and API for a legal‑tech product. You will own both operational and client‑facing databases, manage one‑way synchronization, integrate third‑party services, and ensure strong security and data isolation.

Key responsibilities

• Design and evolve PostgreSQL schemas for operational and isolated client databases.
• Develop ingestion processes and data transformers, including delta syncs and scheduled jobs.
• Integrate external APIs and webhooks such as Trellis, PostGrid, Zoom, CA SOS, and SEC.
• Build and maintain the backend API, enforcing row‑level security and audit logging.

Required profile

• 1+ years of production backend development experience.
• Strong PostgreSQL expertise: schema design, indexing, foreign keys, query tuning.
• Proficiency in Python or Node.js and building/consuming REST APIs.
• Hands‑on experience with third‑party API and webhook integrations.
• Experience with data pipelines/ETL, scheduled jobs, and delta synchronization.
• Cloud deployment experience on AWS or Azure (managed PostgreSQL, networking basics).
• Comfortable using Git and writing automated tests.
