Functional Safety Expert

About the role

eInfochips, an Arrow Company, is seeking a Functional Safety Expert to lead safety engineering for autonomous vehicle functions, focusing on heavy‑truck systems. The role involves defining safety concepts, performing hazard analyses, and coordinating with distributed development teams.

Key responsibilities

• Define item definitions for autonomous vehicle functions and develop functional safety concepts per IEC 61508 / ISO 26262.
• Perform Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA), DFMEA, FMEDA, FTA, and DFA.
• Develop functional and technical safety requirements and security controls for system‑level design.
• Coordinate security scope during software development and assess external supplier proposals.
• Maintain safety‑related artifacts, support audits, and conduct cross‑functional reviews.

Required profile

• BS in Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years experience with IEC 61508, ISO 26262, and system engineering for autonomous trucks or passenger vehicles.
• Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.

Required skills

• IEC 61508 and ISO 26262 standards.
• Safety analysis methods: DFMEA, FMEDA, FTA, DFA.
• Application Lifecycle Management tools: IBM DNG, IBM Rational Rhapsody, IBM Rational Team Concert.
• Experience with ALM and system modeling tools.
