Functional Safety Expert

About the role

eInfochips, an Arrow Company, is a product engineering services firm focused on silicon, hardware, embedded software, applications, industrial design and user interfaces. It is hiring a Functional Safety Expert based in Maadi Technology Park, Cairo, on a full-time basis. The role covers functional safety analysis and requirements for autonomous vehicle and heavy truck systems under IEC 61508 and ISO 26262.

Key responsibilities

• Define item definitions for autonomous vehicle functions
• Perform hazard analysis and risk assessment (HARA)
• Carry out safety analyses (DFMEA, FMEDA, FTA, DFA) per IEC 61508 / ISO 26262
• Define the functional safety concept for the relevant system, hardware and software
• Develop functional and technical safety requirements for heavy truck systems
• Define security controls for system-level design requirements and coordinate with distributed teams on security scope during software development
• Assess supplier technology proposals against risk management design objectives
• Maintain safety-related artifacts and documents and review them with cross-functional teams
• Support functional safety audits and assessments

Required profile

• BS in Engineering or a related field
• Experience in system engineering for control systems, code and architecture on autonomous trucks or passenger vehicles
• Minimum 5 years of experience with IEC 61508 or ISO 26262 and other international standards
• Ability to explain complex concepts simply and accurately, with independent judgment

Required skills

• Understanding of designing, developing and validating functional safety technologies
• Application Lifecycle Management and system modeling tools such as IBM DNG, IBM Rational Rhapsody and IBM Rational Team Concert
• Valued: familiarity with Agile processes and awareness of regulations affecting instrumentation, emissions, safety and board diagnostics
