HVAC Design Engineer

About the role

Sabbour Consulting is seeking an HVAC Design Engineer to develop, review, and optimise heating, ventilation and air‑conditioning systems for a variety of projects across Egypt and the region. The role combines technical design work with coordination across multiple disciplines and mentorship of junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed HVAC designs, calculations, layouts and equipment specifications.
• Perform cooling/heating load calculations, duct sizing and equipment selection.
• Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA codes and sustainability requirements.
• Review and validate design outputs produced by junior engineers and draftsmen.
• Contribute to value‑engineering studies to deliver cost‑effective, energy‑efficient solutions.
• Coordinate HVAC designs with electrical, plumbing, firefighting, architectural and structural teams.
• Participate in design meetings, resolve conflicts and provide technical input.
• Support site teams during construction through RFIs, clarifications and design modifications.
• Maintain accurate documentation, calculations and design files.
• Support internal QA/QC processes and uphold company design standards.
• Provide on‑the‑job training and share knowledge of the latest HVAC tools and sustainability practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (HVAC focus preferred).
• 2+ years of experience in HVAC design (or 5‑7 years for senior level, 7+ for leadership).
• Proven experience designing HVAC systems for medium‑to‑large commercial, residential, healthcare or industrial projects.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Very good command of written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with HVAC design software such as HAP, Revit MEP, AutoCAD, Carrier E20 or similar tools.
