Nuclear and Radiation Safety Manager

About the role

The Nuclear and Radiation Safety Manager leads Worley’s nuclear safety function, ensuring that projects meet all contractual, regulatory, and technical requirements throughout design, construction, testing and commissioning. This senior position works closely with the customer to provide expert guidance on safety cases, design changes, and emergency preparedness.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve nuclear safety cases and safety assessments, including deterministic and probabilistic safety analyses (PSA Level 1 and Level 2).
• Evaluate design and configuration changes for their impact on nuclear and radiation safety and advise the customer on approval.
• Oversee commissioning and testing of safety‑critical systems, confirming compliance with design and licensing requirements.
• Ensure radiation protection measures follow IAEA GSR Part 3 and national regulations, implementing ALARA principles.
• Support development and assessment of the owner/operator’s safety management system and organizational readiness.
• Assess severe accident management guidelines and emergency preparedness programs.
• Provide technical support to the Worley Project Manager and coordinate nuclear safety resources for the project.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or Radiation Protection.
• At least 10 years of experience in nuclear and radiation safety on large‑scale projects.
• Proven ability to lead multicultural teams.
• Certification in Nuclear Safety, Radiation Protection, or Reactor Licensing is a plus.
