Ocean Services Manager

About the role

The Ocean Services Manager leads Expeditors' Ocean Freight Services district, driving operational excellence, financial performance, and team development. You will work closely with branch leadership, sales, and product teams to grow the business, enhance customer satisfaction, and ensure compliance with company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Ocean Freight Services department, ensuring flexibility, scalability, and high performance.
• Prepare, execute, monitor, and update business plans and strategic objectives.
• Drive productivity and service performance through continuous improvement initiatives.
• Review and support ocean freight quotations, local charges, and agreement pricing to maximize profitability.
• Maintain deep knowledge of end‑to‑end ocean freight operations, including FCL and LCL import/export services.
• Conduct regular meetings to discuss market intelligence, industry trends, performance metrics, and business opportunities.
• Collaborate with branch leadership and sales to support customer retention and account growth.
• Lead implementation of new systems, processes, and technology enhancements.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and support district‑wide productivity initiatives.
• Ensure accurate financial management, reporting, and accountability.
• Partner with Trade Compliance and other stakeholders to uphold regulatory compliance.
• Develop and maintain relationships with carriers, trucking providers, vendors, and key partners.
• Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and development planning for team members.

Required profile

• University degree or equivalent business experience.
• Minimum 10 years of industry experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role within ocean freight forwarding or related logistics.
• Strong knowledge of international ocean freight operations, import/export processes, FCL, LCL, carrier management, and pricing.
• Proven ability to lead high‑performing teams and drive operational excellence.
