Project Officer – Innovation in Sustainable Design

About the role

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Egypt is seeking a Project Officer to support the Danish Egyptian Dialogue Initiative (DEDI) – Innovation in Sustainable Design component. The role focuses on youth‑led innovation, green transition and entrepreneurship in design sectors such as furniture, fashion and textiles.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement programme activities related to sustainable design, youth entrepreneurship and green transition, ensuring timely delivery.
• Develop the annual workplan for Component 1, linking it with other DEDI components and new partnership opportunities.
• Co‑create and manage bootcamps, ideation sessions, incubation cycles, mentoring and showcase events with partners in Egypt and Denmark.
• Design and lead calls for proposals, select and onboard youth participants and partners.
• Support the development of youth‑driven business models and technical solutions.
• Identify project risks and contribute to mitigation strategies.
• Supervise a national UN Volunteer and coordinate logistics.
• Build and maintain partnerships with universities, innovation hubs, SMEs, design institutions and entrepreneurship support organisations.
• Lead contractual agreements in line with UNDP policies and support financial tracking, procurement and payment processes.
• Develop and monitor indicators, track KPIs and prepare progress and learning reports for the DEDI Advisory Group.
• Provide inputs for communication, visibility and knowledge‑management products.
