Sales Technical Support Engineer - Elevator Modernization

About the role

KONE, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, is looking for a Sales Technical Support Engineer to support its Modernization Sales team in Egypt. You will help modernize elevators and escalators across the country, improving their safety, performance, accessibility and sustainability. You will carry out site surveys, assess existing equipment and building conditions, and recommend the most suitable modernization solution so that accurate proposals can be prepared and projects are handed over smoothly to the installation team.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct technical site surveys of elevators, escalators, shafts, pits, machine rooms and surrounding building areas.
• Assess existing equipment, structural conditions, access requirements, safety risks and customer needs.
• Prepare survey reports, measurements, photographs, sketches and technical recommendations.
• Identify the civil, structural and builder's works needed for each project.
• Recommend KONE modernization or replacement solutions and prepare technical scopes, bills of quantities and inputs for pricing and tenders.
• Support the Sales team in customer meetings and technical discussions, and coordinate with Sales, Tendering, Engineering, Installation, Maintenance, consultants and subcontractors.
• Ensure a complete technical handover and follow KONE safety requirements and Egyptian and international standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience in the elevator and escalator industry.
• Experience in site surveys, installation, modernization, technical sales or a related technical function.
• Fluent Arabic and professional written and spoken English.
• Valid Egyptian driving licence and willingness to travel regularly across Egypt.
• Preferred: experience with modernization surveys for different brands, knowledge of EN 81-20/50, EN 115-1 and Egyptian codes, and experience on occupied buildings such as hospitals, hotels, offices and residential developments.

Required skills

• Good understanding of elevator and escalator systems, including traction, hydraulic and machine-room-less elevators.
• Ability to read architectural, structural and technical drawings.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
• Preferred: Revit, BIM, digital survey applications or laser measurement tools.
