Senior Shipping Coordinator

About the role

Chalhoub Group, a luxury retailer with over 10 owned brands and more than 950 stores, is looking for an experienced Senior Shipping Coordinator to join its Egypt Shipping Operations team. The role oversees and coordinates import and export shipments in Egypt, covering shipping documentation, customs clearance, freight coordination and final delivery to the warehouse. It is a full-time, onsite position in Cairo.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee import shipments from initiation through customs clearance and final warehouse delivery.
• Manage and verify shipping documentation for accuracy, completeness and compliance with Egyptian import procedures and customs regulations.
• Work with customs brokers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, carriers and authorities to ensure timely shipment execution.
• Monitor shipment progress, address delays and keep to agreed timelines and service standards.
• Review freight forwarder invoices against agreed rates, follow up on discrepancies, and ensure shipments are insured and claims are investigated and settled.
• Maintain shipment records, operational trackers and performance metrics, and prepare shipping reports in Excel.
• Ensure compliance with Egyptian customs, import and shipping regulations and internal policies, and escalate issues and recommend improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Commerce or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in shipping/logistics operations, with hands-on exposure to import and customs clearance in Egypt.
• Proven knowledge of Egyptian import procedures, customs documentation and clearance regulations.
• Experience managing relationships with customs brokers, freight forwarders, shipping lines and carriers, and reviewing freight invoices and claims.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Candidates based in Cairo, especially in or near Nasr City, are preferred.

Required skills

• Excellent Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP (mandatory).
• Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
