Shift Engineer

About the role

The Shift Engineer is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of all hotel tools, appliances, and equipment during each shift. This role combines hands‑on maintenance, safety checks, and guest service support within a busy hospitality environment.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and perform preventative maintenance on tools, appliances, and equipment.
• Calibrate controls, gauges, meters and operate all shut‑off valves.
• Conduct life‑safety checks, including fire‑pump and generator run tests, and inspect fire‑sprinkler valves and alarm systems.
• Maintain inventory, order parts, and keep purchase‑order logs up to date.
• Enter work‑related information using computer systems and operate a power lift.
• Respond to guest repair requests and assist with disability accommodations.
• Support management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating and coaching staff.
• Follow all company safety, security and confidentiality policies.

Required profile

• Technical, trade or vocational school degree.
• Minimum 2 years of related maintenance experience.
• Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lb, reaching overhead, and navigating stairs.
