Software Engineer, LIGHT

About the role

Valeo is seeking a Software Engineer (LIGHT) to develop and integrate embedded software for automotive applications. The role involves working with cross‑functional teams to gather requirements, design high‑level architectures, and deliver reliable software components that meet ASPICE standards.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and consolidate stakeholder requirements, identify conflicts, and perform system and customer requirements analysis.
• Define high‑level design architecture for new products, especially those with high reuse potential.
• Design and implement complex software components based on the defined architecture.
• Integrate software components, including on‑site customer visits to ensure smooth delivery.
• Conduct technical reviews of design, code, and component tests, and develop test strategies and plans.
• Participate in daily and weekly project meetings across Valeo sites.
• Develop work breakdown structures and contribute to activity estimations.
• Support continuous improvement of processes, guidelines, checklists, and tools.
• Perform software integration on test benches and vehicles, analyze test reports, and lead issue resolution to ensure customer satisfaction.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• At least 1 year of experience in automotive embedded software development.
• Strong understanding of quality processes and ASPICE‑compliant development.

Required skills

• Proficiency in C and C++ for embedded systems.
• Experience with Python scripting.
• Knowledge of microcontrollers such as Renesas, NXP, and Aurix.
• Familiarity with AUTOSAR architecture concepts.
• Use of Vector tools (CANoe, DaVinci, VTest Studio).
• Experience with software integration on test benches and vehicles.
