Substation Project Engineer - Secondary Engineering

About the role

HITACHI ENERGY TECHNOLOGY S.A.E. is looking for a Substation Project Engineer with a strong background in secondary engineering for GIS and AIS substations. The role covers the full range of substation projects, from 11kV to 500kV, and is based in New Cairo, Cairo, Egypt.

Key responsibilities

• Handle substation projects and prepare and review secondary engineering documents: single line diagrams, metering and protection schemes, protection logic, LVAC and DC distribution schemes, cabling sizing and type selection
• Review supplier engineering documents for HV/MV equipment, relay panels, LCCs, SCADA/RTU/SCMS/SAS, FMS/DFR, telecom, MV switchgear, LVAC and DC systems, and FAT procedures
• Prepare and review LVAC and DC sizing calculations, IO lists, CT/VT sizing, control cable lists and termination lists
• Estimate BOQs for RFQs during project and tender stages, evaluate supplier offers, witness FATs and resolve issues
• Engineer auxiliary equipment such as LV AC boards, service/auxiliary transformers, earthing transformers, batteries, UPS, inverters, security, CCTV, access control and EPABX
• Coordinate with primary, civil and MEP disciplines, and with supply chain, project lead engineer and project manager on schedule and execution
• Support tenders with BOQ, deviation lists, clarifications and technical proposals, and carry out engineering optimization and value engineering
• Prepare as-built documentation, attend site visits and coordinate with the site team during installation and commissioning

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
• Extensive experience handling substation projects, including GIS and AIS projects at 11kV to 500kV
• Experience in relay setting and coordination, and knowledge of protection and control IEDs
